The 2012 UEFA European Football Championship will be held in Poland and Ukraine between 8 June and 1 July 2012.
It will be the 14th renewal of the European Championship and will feature 16 nations, with venues spread across 8 different cities. Both Poland and Ukraine will automatically qualify for the tournament as co-hosts.
Qualifying for Euro 2012 will be spread across 9 seperate groups, with either 5 or 6 teams in each group and the winners qualify automatically for the finals. The best runner-up will also qualify, with the remaining second place teams playing a two legged play-off. Due to the differing number of nations in each group, the 'best' runner-up will be determined by the results of each second place team against the first, third, fourth and fifth placed sides.
